The Right Way Baseball Academy 8U Grinds Its Way to a First Place Finish in TUSCALOOSA, AL

Tournament: Grandslam’s Moving on Up 8U Kid Pitch – Tuscaloosa, Alabama – 8/1/ 2020

Coming off of their first tournament bracket play loss in a month, The Right Way Baseball Academy (TRWBA) 8U came into the Moving on Up 8U Kid Pitch in Tuscaloosa, Alabama motivated to get the taste of defeat out of their mouths.  In the practices leading up to the tournament, Manager Fabian Harper and staff really focused on making adjustments observed in the teams first kid pitch tournament.  The number one goal coming into this tournament was to throw strikes, simple and plain.   Here is the recap:

Game 1 – Pool Play – Vs Sidewinders 8U (AL)  – Game one of the pool play started off with TRWBA 8U facing off against the Sidewinders 8U baseball team.  TRWBA 8U immediately jumped out to a 14-1 lead after two innings and didn’t look back.  Behind the consistent bats of Kamrn Scott, Kamari Smith, Brenden Hill, and Christian Web, TRWBA 8U scored their highest run total of the spring.  Defensively, DJ Bryant, Charles Edwards, Fabian Harper Jr and Chase Morning were lights out, holding the Sidewinders 8U team to three points.  The final score was 23-3 with TRWBA 8U winning its first game of pool play.

Game 2 – Pool Play – Vs Tuscaloosa Avengers 8U (AL)  – TRWBA 8U came into game two of pool play with high confidence against the Tuscaloosa Avengers 8U team.  Manager Fabian Harper challenged the team to work to be consistent every single play.  The team did not disappoint.  Trent Spearman, DeMarea Riggs, Chase Morning, Tyson Owens, DJ Bryant Jr , Brenden Hill,  and Fabian Harper Jr bats were consistent.  Defensively,  Will Farness, Kamrn Scott, and Charles Edwards III were solid.  The final score was 9-3 with TRWBA 8U winning its second game of pool play and going into bracket play as the number one seed.

Pitchers: Will Farness, Kamari Smith, Brenden Hill

Game 1 – Bracket Play – Vs Tuscaloosa Avengers 8U (AL)  –   TRWBA 8U squared off with the Tuscaloosa Avengers 8U baseball team for the second time of the day for the first game of bracket play.  The game started off sluggish for both teams but they found rhythm in the 2nd inning.  The game went into extra innings and TRWBA 8U was able to outlast a hard fighting Tuscaloosa Avengers 8U team.  Offensively, Fabian Harper Jr., Kamari Smith,  Kamrn Scott, DJ Bryant and Brenden Hill added consistency at the plate.  Defensively, Will Farness, Chase Morning, Chris Webb, Trent Spearman, DeMarea Riggs and Tyson Owens added much needed outs and solid defense.  The final score was 8-7 with TRWBA 8U earning a spot in the championship game.

Pitchers: Jailen Mott, Kamrn Scott

Game  2 – Championship – Vs TC TUSK 8U (AL)  –  TRWBA 8U  came into the championship game knowing it would be a challenge against a tough TC Tusk 8U team.  TC Tusk 8U jumped out to a 3-0 lead after 4 innings.  TRWBA 8U fought back behind the pitching of Brenden Hill and Chase Morning.  In the top of the 6th inning,  TRWBA 8U scored six runs, going up on TC Tusk 8U 6-3.  In the bottom of the 6th inning, TRWBA 8U was able to hold TC Tusk 8U to zero runs and zero hits to close out the game.  Behind the bats of Charles Edwards III, Trent Spearman, Chase Morning, and Jailen Mott, TRWBA 8U was solid at the plate.  Defensively, Kamrn Scott, DJ Bryant, Brenden Hill, and Will Farness were lights out.  The final score was 6-3 with TRWBA 8U winning the championship game.
