The Right Way Baseball Academy 8U Dominates 8AAA Tournament in Rome GA in Impressive Fashion
Tournament: USSSA Welcome Back to Baseball Tournament, Rome GA – 06/06/2020 and 06/07/2020
The Right Way Baseball Academy (TRWBA) came into the weekend with high hopes of earning respect in another state not named Alabama. With a long week of practices and a few scrimmage games, both 7U and 8U were prepared to compete at a high level, and boy did they.
Game 1 – Pool Play – Vs Kennesaw Generals (GA): TRWBA 8U started out pool play against the Kennesaw Generals (GA). Behind the excellent outfield play of Kamrn Scott, William Farness, and Charles Edwards III the TRWBA 8U shut out the Kennesaw Generals through three innings. The Kennesaw Generals gained momentum with a 7 run 4th inning to bring the game close 13-7. With the dominate infield play of Fabian Harper Jr and Chase Morning, and the consistent bats of DJ Bryant, Kamari Smith, and Brenden Hill, TRWBA 8U finished the game with toughness and resolve. The final score was 18-14, with the TRWBA 8U earning its first victory of the day.
Game 2 – Pool Play – Vs Canes GA Black-R (GA):: The second game of pool play, TRWBA 8U faced off with the Canes GA Black-R (GA). TRWBA 8U jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. With the powerful batting of Chris Webb, Charles Edwards III, and Fabian Harper Jr., TRWBA 8U scored runs in every inning of the game. Defensively, DJ Bryant, Chase Morning, Kamrn Scott, Kamari Smith, DeMarea Riggs, and Trent Spearman were consistent and solid. The final score of the game was 9-1 with TRWBA 8U earning its second win of the day, and going into bracket play as the number one seed.

Game 1 –Bracket Play (Gold) – Vs Kennesaw Generals (GA):
TRWBA 8U came into bracket play with confidence that could fill an entire city. TRWBA 8U jumped out on Kennesaw Generals 8-2 and never looked back. Behind the stellar defensive play of DJ Bryant, Langston Dunigan, William Farness, and Trent Spearman, the TRWBA 8U held the generals to five points in the game. Offensively, Brenden Hill, Tyson Owens, Chris Webb, and Kamrn Scott added much needed hits and runs needed to secure the victory. The final score of the game was 12-5 with TRWBA 8U earning a spot in the championship game.
Championship Game – Bracket Play (Gold) – Vs North Cherokee Select (GA): Manager Fabian and Coach Steward challenged the team to keep their confidence and poise going into the championship versus North Cherokee Select, and the team did not disappoint. With the consistent bats of Fabian Harper Jr, DJ Bryant, Tyson Owens, and Brenden Hill, TRWBA 8U jumped out to a 7-0 lead to start the game. Manager Fabian encouraged the team to keep the pressure on and they did not disappoint. Defensively, DJ Bryant, Kamrn Scott, Charles Edwards III, DeMarea Riggs and Kamari Smith were outstanding, allowing TRWBA 8U to win the gold bracket championship in impressive fashion.
After the tournament, Coach Steward and Manager Fabian reflected on the day. “8U dominated this entire tournament from start to finish. We started with confidence and finished with confidence. We made plays when they counted” Couch Steward said. “I think this is one of those tournaments that can spark a run that could build confidence and greater game play. Our confidence is riding high right now.” Coach Steward added. Before Manager Harper bolted to the 7U championship game, we caught up with him to get his thoughts on 8U play. “8U is a team that has great chemistry and rhythm together. They play as one and it shows. This is a great step forward for our program and for the state of Alabama. We came to represent and we did it in impressive fashion. Now on to the 7U championship” Manager Fabian added as he sprinted to his car to get to the park for the 7U championship game.
